Augusta National competition committee investigating possible Luke Donald disqualification
Donald may face disqualification
Members of Augusta National Golf Club's competition committee are looking into the possibility of a scoring error regarding Luke Donald's first round at the Masters Tournament.
An announcement from the club said an investigation has been opened. Donald, who has a posted score of 1-over 73, may face disqualification if he signed a scorecard with the incorrect score.
He said he shot a 75 after three-putting the fifth for a bogey and a 3-over 75. Augusta National scorers recorded a birdie at 5 and a 1-over 73. Investigation continues.
Apparently neither Luke Donald nor Augusta National realized there was a scoring discrepancy. A reporter noticed conflict between scorecard and Donald's description of round.
A ruling is expected later this evening.
