Honorary starters get Masters Tournament underway
Honorary starters Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player kicked off the 77th edition of the Masters Tournament in style this morning.
The 83-year-old Palmer, a four-time Masters champion, went first. Palmer punched the air after striping his drive down the middle.
Player, who owns three green jackets, went next. The South African icon blasted his tee ball down the right side of the fairway.
Nicklaus, the six-time Masters champion, stepped to the tee last. He hit the longest of the three drives, knocking his shot left of the fairway.
The tournament is officially underway. Sandy Lyle, John Peterson and amateur Nathan Smith all went off at 8 a.m.
