Kuchar speaks on Georgia golfers
Matt Kuchar's press conference on Monday included a light-hearted conversation of college rivals.
When asked about the recent wave of Georgia golfers experiencing success, the Georgia Tech product cracked a smile.
"I'd like to say that Georgia Tech has got about as many alumni out here as possible," Kuchar said. "I don't know the head-to-head count, but I certainly speak with more authority on the Georgia Tech team."
Former Georgia golfer Bubba Watson took home the green jacket last year. Russell Henley is quickly moving up the ranks with a win in his first career PGA Tour event at the Sony Open in January, and he's making his first Masters Tournament appearance.
Harris English did not qualify for the 2013 Masters but has five career top-10 finishes and is in his second year as a professional.
"I don't have any good reason as to why you've got a bunch of young guys coming out of Georgia right now," Kuchar said. "I'd have to say competition helps. I'd have to say you get a handful of guys that motivate each other to do better."
Georgia Tech is well-represented by Kuchar, who finished third in last year's Masters. He and Watson were the only two golfers in the field who broke par all four rounds.
