Masters field set with 97 players

The 2012 Masters Tournament field is set at 97 players.

Hunter Mahan won the Houston Open today, but he was already qualified. He won by one shot over Carl Pettersson, who was hoping to win and get a last-minute invitation to Augusta.

Ernie Els finished tied for 12th in Houston, and his streak of consecutive Masters appearances will end at 18. He finished as runner-up in 2000 and 2004.

Els' fellow South African, Retief Goosen, also did not qualify and will miss the Masters for the first time since 1999.
