Posnanski is "back"
Sports fans from all over the country, especially in Kansas City and readers of Sports Illustrated, know who Joe Posnanski is. We in the business know he was the national sports writer of the year last year.
Readers might not know that Joe worked at The Augusta Chronicle for nearly three years in the early 1990s. While here, he had a foootball game picking contest each week called "Pound Poz" where readers who won more games than he did got a "Pound Poz" t-shirt. Joe wasn't the best picker, so there were a lot of those t-shirts around town.
Well, Posnanski is here this week for the Masters working for Sports Ilustrated. He doesn't have a parking pass (the national sports writer of the year doesn't have a parking pass?). So he's been parking on lots on Washington Road for $20 a shot.
He pulled in earlier in the week and the local who took his money recognized him. Of course, he must not be a regular reader of the Chronicle because he thought Joe still worked for us. He's only been gone for 19 years!
Anyway, the kicker to the story was that the guy told him he still had his "Pound Poz" t-shirt.
