Van Pelt ties record with Sunday 64
Hole-in-one highlights 8-under round
Bo Van Pelt matched a Masters Tournament record by shooting 64 on a Sunday at Augusta National Golf Club.
Though he started the day well out of contention at 7-over par for the tournament, Van Pelt walked off the 18th green tied for 16th at 1-under.
Van Pelt shot a 30 on the second nine, including an eagle at the par-5 13 and hole-in-one on 16. The ace was the 14th in Masters history on the iconic par-3.
He is the sixth player to shoot 64 in the final round. The others were Maurice Bembridge in 1974, Hale Irwin in 1975, Gary Player in 1978, Greg Norman in 1988 and David Toms in 1998.
Player’s 64 in 1978 is the lowest final round by a champion.
