Those arriving early for Wednesday's Par-3 Contest might want to bring rain gear.

Chris Rohrbach, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Columbia, said thunderstorms could occur east of Augusta, but patrons should see only light rain until around noon. Rohrbach said only a tenth of an inch of rain is expected. Wind gusts will also keep the highs for the day slightly lower than previous days, settling around the lower to mid-70s and mostly sunny.

Rainstorms cancelled last year's contest, the first time in the event's history. The Par-3 has been staged since 1960.

Winds will die down Thursday, although the high is predicted to be in the upper 60s. Friday will be sunny with highs in the mid-70s.

There is a greater chance of rain throughout Saturday, and weather service meteorologist Tony Petrolito said they "can't rule out a thunderstorm." Rainfall for the Masters' third round could reach three-quarters of an inch.
