Time running out for players to qualify for 2019 Masters Tournament

With less than three weeks to go, time is running out for golfers to qualify for the 2019 Masters.

There are two ways to get in: Win one of three remaining tournaments before Masters Week, or get into the top 50 that is published April 1.

With the Official World Golf Ranking that came out Monday, there are eight players who are on the cusp of getting in. Some need to maintain their spot in the top 50, and others will need to play well or get some help.

The players (ranking in parenthesis) on the bubble are Shane Lowry (47), Justin Harding (48), Byeong Hun An (51), Andrew Putnam (53), Emiliano Grillo (54), Chez Reavie (56), Jim Furyk (57) and Abraham Ancer (59).

Lowry, An, Reavie, Grillo and Furyk have played in the Masters experience.

The field size is currently at 84 players, which is well below the threshold of 100 that Augusta National prefers.

Since the beginning of the year, three players have entered the field thanks to wins on the PGA Tour: Adam Long (Desert Classic), J.B. Holmes (Genesis Open) and Keith Mitchell (Honda Classic).

Furyk and Ancer each flirted with winning The Players Championship last week, which would have given them a three-year exemption into the Masters.

Lowry, from Ireland, and Harding, from South Africa, are currently one-two in the Race to Dubai standings on the European Tour. Lowry won in Abu Dhabi earlier this year, while Harding won in Qatar and finished second in Kenya this month.
