Devon Bling celebrates ace at Par 3

As if playing in his first Masters as an amateur wasn't enough of a thrill for Devon Bling, the UCLA sophomore made it even more special.

During Wednesday's Par-3 Contest, Bling aced No. 7.

"I wouldn't have wanted this any other way," he said. "First Masters, first Par-3 tournament and hit a great shot and it went in. It's the best feeling I've ever had in the world."

Getting advice from an Augusta National member to "hit it 120 yards, right of the hole and it will go in," Bling executed the shot perfectly with a sand wedge. He wasn't sure whether it was pure off the clubhead, but it didn't take long to find out it was.

"It came off pretty nice and I was hoping it was flying the right number, and it did," Bling said. "On the tee it didn't look like it was going toward the flag, it looked short. Then it disappeared into the shadows and I couldn't see it. When the crowd reacted, I went wild."

Bling had a chance to win the Par-3 Contest, going to No. 9 with a share of the lead with Sandy Lyle. But with the exact same yardage and shot as the one he pulled off on No. 7, Bling sent his tee shot long into the bunker and he missed a 10-footer for par.
