Jon Rahm stays in contention at Masters
Jon Rahm is getting the hang of this Masters Tournament thing.
The 24-year-old Rahm, coming off a fourth place finish last year in his second career Masters, shot his fifth consecutive round under par in this event. Rahm’s 2-under 70 on Friday left him two strokes back of the five leaders tied atop the leaderboard at 7-under.
“I think I’m in better position than last year, I’m only two shots back,” Rahm said. “I’m feeling good with a lot of good energy.”
Rahm put together a unique round. After three holes he was 2-under par with back-to-back birdies on Nos. 2 and 3, then he proceeded to reel off 15 straight pars, the final one a sand save after an errant second shot.

“Like I said, I’m feeling good,” Rahm said. “Even that last shot at 18 it felt like a good swing. I might have been aiming wrong, it could be something as simple as that, who knows. Hopefully, I can give myself a few better birdie looks.”
Rahm played in a group with Tiger Woods, who was involved in a crazy scene at No. 14 when a security guard, running to keep patrons away after he hit a shot, slipped and clipped Woods' foot.
Rahm was talking with friends before leaving the Augusta National grounds Friday and said he didn’t see what happened.
When told what happened, Rahm said on that same hole he hit a shot and a security guard was near him quickly like he was being guarded in a basketball game.
“I didn’t know what was happening,” Rahm said.
Rahm does, however, know what’s happening when he tees it up at Augusta National these days.
That’s a round under par.
