Collin Morikawa closes with a 64 to win 2020 PGA Championship
Collin Morikawa continues to impress during his young professional career.
On Sunday, in his 29th professional start, he won the biggest tournament of his life, claiming the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
Morikawa broke from the pack, firing a final-round 6-under 64 and finished with a 72-hole total of 13-under 267 to win by two strokes over Paul Casey and Dustin Johnson. Morikawa’s weekend rounds of 65-64 is the lowest 36-hole weekend score in PGA Championship history. He had already won twice on the PGA Tour and at one point, he made 22 straight cuts.
Morikawa made four birdies, including a chip-in birdie at 14, and drove the par-4 16th hole, setting up a 7-foot eagle to close out his first major championship.
At 23 years, 6 months, 3 days, Morikawa earns a lifetime exemption into the PGA Championship. He also earns five-year exemptions to the Masters, the U.S. Open, the Open Championship and the PGA Tour.
