Augusta National opens hospitality venue
A new hospitality venue inside Augusta National Golf Club’s grounds will be partially open for this year’s Masters Tournament.
Berckmans Place, which will offer high-quality food and beverages in an air-conditioned venue to watch golf, is located inside the club’s back entrance at Gate 9 on Berckmans Road. It is a short walk from the fifth and 13th greens.
The facility was scheduled to open for the 2013 Masters, but an Augusta National spokesman said “a portion” of it will be in operation this year.
Badges that grant access to the hospitality won’t be available to the general public.
The decision to build its own hospitality building was a response to frequent requests from tournament partners that desire a heightened level of hospitality, the club spokesman said.
The building features a traditional Southern architecture style that matches existing structures at Augusta National.
The multistory building will encompass nearly 90,000 square feet, according to plans filed with Richmond County’s licensing and inspections department. The ground floor will cover 40,000 square feet, the upper floor is 30,000 square feet and the basement is 18,560 square feet.
