Bubba Watson wins 2014 Masters
Bubba Watson has won the 2014 Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.
Watson was tied for the lead heading into the Sunday round with Jordan Spieth, but Watson took the lead at the turn, and alternated between a two and three shot lead through the back nine.
Watson ran into trouble at 15, but saved par. Spieth couldn't take advantage, settling for par as well.
Watson becomes the ninth golfer in Masters history to win a second green jacket. He joins Horton Smith, Byron Nelson, Ben Hogan, Tom Watson, Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Ben Crenshaw and José María Olazábal.
Coming into the tournament, Watson was only one for seven turning 54 hole leads into PGA victories.
Miguel Angel Jimenez shot 71 on Sunday to move to four under, leading the effort by the senior champions. Fred Couples shot three over par to drop to two over for the tournament.
Joost Luiten had the day’s best round, shooting five under 67, ten shots better than Saturday, to advance to four over par for the tournament. Bernhard Langer and Rory McIlroy both shot 69 on Sunday to finish up at even par 288. Stewart Cink did one shot better, shooting four under to finish at one over par.
Vijay Singh, Lucas Glover, Steve Stricker and Russell Henley were three over on the day. Larry Mize and Kevin Streelman struggled on Sunday, both shooting seven over to drop back in the pack.
