CBS has long history with Masters Tournament

For the 58th consecutive year, TV viewers will turn to CBS for their Masters Tournament coverage.

The tournament was first broadcast by the network in 1956. Coverage has gradually expanded, with more than 90 hours of live video over seven days from Augusta this year.

The network’s Masters coverage is Saturday from 3-7 p.m. and Sunday from 2-7 p.m. Early round highlights will air Thursday and Friday from 11:35-11:50 p.m.

In recent years, coverage has expanded to include live video from the tournament practice range, Amen Corner, holes 15 and 16, and featured groups on holes 10-18. Live video is found at cbssports.com and masters.com.

“We can’t wait to get down there and document what goes on this weekend,” CBS Sports Chairman Sean McManus said. “It’s unlike any sporting event in the world, unlike any golf tournament in the world. We try to convey what is different about the Masters and what is different about the Augusta National, show the beauty around the clubhouse, around the golf course.”

Jim Nantz is in his 28th consecutive year covering the Masters for CBS, including his 26th as host. He is again paired with Nick Faldo in the booth.

“There’s just a presence,” Nantz said. “On top of it all, there’s just a link to the history of the tournament. They do such a fabulous job keeping that tradition alive.”
