Matt Kuchar wins The Players Championship
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, Fla. - Former Georgia Tech golfer Matt Kuchar,won the biggest tournament of his career when he captured The Players Championship on Sunday at TPC Sawgrass.
Kuchar, who started the day one shot off Kevin Na's lead, closed with 2-under-par 70 to win by two shots. He finished at 13-under 275 for his fourth career victory.
Among other perks, the victory earns Kuchar a three-year exemption into the Masters Tournament. He already had qualified for the 2013 Masters by virtue of his top-16 finish last month.
Kuchar, who had a share of the lead at Augusta National after 15 holes, tied for third place.Four players - Martin Laird (67), Zach Johnson (68), Ben Curtis (68) and Rickie Fowler (70) - tied for second place behind Kuchar at The Players Championship.
