Westwood scoffs at notion Masters is two-man race between McIlroy and Woods
Lee Westwood isn’t ready to concede anything when it comes to winning the Masters Tournament.
When asked about the Sports Illustrated Masters preview article claiming it’s a two-man race between Rory McIlroy and Tiger Woods, Westwood scoffed.
“I don’t really read anything to be perfectly honest,” Westwood said. “Rory has never won here. Tiger hasn’t won it since 2005. I think everybody in this room would have to be naive to think it’s just a two-horse race.
“I think Phil (Mickelson) may have something to say about that. Luke (Donald) might. I might.”
Westwood seemed to take a jab at McIlroy, one of his rivals. McIlroy hasn’t played in three weeks since his win at The Honda Classic. Westwood played last week in Houston, where he finished tied for 21st place.
“I wouldn’t want three weeks off and then play competitively on Thursday,” Westwood said.
