Scott Piercy and Danny Lee started the day in a tie for third place at 2-under par. But the pair plummeted down the leaderboard Saturday after shooting 79.

They are tied for 23rd.

Piercy, a three-time winner on the PGA Tour from Las Vegas, failed to card a birdie and took an 8 at the par-5 15th as he shot 42 on the back nine.

Lee, of New Zealand, had three birdies. But he posted eight bogeys and made a double bogey at the par-3 sixth hole.

“I thought I was hitting it fine,” Lee said. “But from inside 15 feet I made three putts twice I think today. I just never putted on these kind of greens before. That’s my excuse. It was so fast; I didn’t even know what to do out there. Probably my dad could putt it better than that.”
