Patrick Reed focuses on putting
Patrick Reed needed one letter to describe his goal for thisMasters.
“W,” he said after Tuesday’s practice round.
This week marks Reed’s third appearance at Augusta National Golf Club.
Last year, the Augusta State University product finished tied for 22nd at
2-under-par 286.
He missed the cut in his first Masters Tournament in 2014.
“I’m playing well right now – it’s only Tuesday, though,” Reed said. “I need to make sure I’m ready by Thursday, but things are heading in the right direction.”
Before Tuesday’s practice round, Reed spent about 30 minutes putting toward a white string on the practice green with hopes of perfecting distance control. After his nine holes, the 25-
year-old returned to the putting green for another session.
“I have to make a couple more putts this year,” Reed said. “I feel like I’m hitting the ball pretty well, but you have to make putts around here.”
Reed shot two rounds of 70 last year (Thursday and Sunday) en route to his lowest score at Augusta National.
