Patrick Reed wants wind to keep gusting

Patrick Reed doesn’t mind the wind. In fact, he wishes it would blow harder.

“When you’re sitting as far down the leaderboard as I am, you need it to keep up,” he said.

Reed carded 75 on Saturday and has now shot over par in six of nine career rounds at Augusta National. The former Augusta State star needed 33 putts Saturday after having 30 in each of the first two rounds.

“I putted horrendously,” he said. “You can’t do that around here.”

Reed said Saturday’s conditions altered how he read the greens at Augusta National.

“I had two putts today – both should have gone left. But because of how hard the wind was blowing off the left, I played left-edge and made them both on the right side of the hole,” he said. “Then on No. 13, I played twice as much break as usual and made birdie.”

Reed enters Sunday at 8-over par.
