    Phone ban can't stop tweets from Masters patrons

At Augusta National Golf Club, low-tech paper is the answer to the club’s ban on cellphones.

The Augusta Chronicle solicited tweets from tech-savvy patrons whose hopes to tweet the Masters Tournament were delayed by the club’s closely enforced ban on any digital device that beeps, buzzes, tweets or chimes.

Using pen and paper, patrons scratched out analog-versions of tweets that would later be scanned and shared online.

Here’s a sampling, direct from the patrons at Augusta National.

@PRE_MEDICATED: “Masters 2013. Saw Bubba knock one a country mile!”

@SEPROPER: “At #theMasters. Lots of changes. Looking for Vijay and Phil. Great day in Augusta!”

For some, the tweets provided an unexpected opportunity to say thank you.

@LLENTZ: “Thanks @TigerWoods + your caddy for the ball on #18 @ Augusta”

@FMFORDHAM: “I got a water bottle from Zach Johnson’s caddy!! We are from Augusta and love the Masters!!”

For others, it was all about the sandwiches.

@TAIRYGREENE: “beautiful day at Egg Salad National”

@SBEHRJR: “Love being out at the Masters. Best sports event in the world! And the best egg salad!”

And the course itself:

@GREG_CONRAD94: “perfection doesn’t exist other than at Augusta National Golf Club #heavenonearth”

@BOOOANITA: “This golf course is perfect. What a lovely day. #gotiger #winrory”

Some couldn’t help but tweet about the low-tech novelty:

@JAYHIGHTOWER84: “Here at Augusta, can’t use my phone but it’s great to be back. #Atraditionunlikeanyother”

@HEATHERADAMSPGA: “#awesomeness tweeting inside the ropes! at the Masters #newtraditions”

@CHOPAMENTALS: “I wish I could know the time but I don’t have my phone #masters2013”

Whether in print or online, Twitter brings out the jokers.

@GARN_MILLER: “Where is the putt-putt course? #clownsmouth”

@YOUGOTGOLDBOY: “forgot my coral pants this week #masters #losing”

@78SHARP: “Highlight of the day was the BBC’s Hazel Irvine thinking I was Gerard Butler. #fixscottishaccent #masters2013”

One tweet attempted to explain what Twitter can’t:

@STINEBOSS: “Can’t describe Augusta National in 140 characters. #nowords”
