Player's son to speak at annual prayer breakfast

Wayne Player will share personal stories of growing up as Gary Player’s son, as well as his own testimony of faith at this year’s Masters Week Prayer Breakfast.

The breakfast, now in its 21st year, will be held at Warren Baptist Church at 7 a.m. April 7.

The younger Player – who grew up traveling the world with his father, a three-time Masters champion – has himself competed in one U.S. Open, two British Opens, three U.S. Amateurs and four British Amateurs. In 1982, he and his dad were the first father/son duo to play in U.S. and British Opens at the same time.

Wayne Player has appeared on The Golf Channel and FoxSports, most recently serving as co-host of The Golf Channel’s On the Range, and has worked with some of golf’s most notable instructors, including David Leadbetter, Peter Kostis and Bob Toski. He also owns an entertainment/travel company that provides custom golf and dream list experiences for corporate and private clients that have included everything from the Masters to golf excursions in Scotland and Ireland.

Player is also a respected motivational speaker and is well-known for his work with nonprofit and charitable organizations.

The Masters Week Golf Breakfast draws about 1,000 people each year and is presented by the Greater Augusta Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Previous speakers have included Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson, Larry Mize and Pat Summerall.

Breakfast is free. For more information, go to greateraugustafca.org.
